In the astronomy course, students study the world of space. Starting with the universe, students slowly Zoom in until they get to our Earth. First, students study concepts such as the multiverse, before plunging into the workings of galaxies. Students study the types of galaxies (as well as how to classify them), as well as galaxy clusters. Next, students go past the galaxy level to look at stars. Students study the many types of stars, star life cycles and more. After they have done this, students look at another key component in galaxies – black holes. Students study how black holes work, exploring several theories. Students also look at the line of no return and other concepts. After this, students look at solar systems – with a specific focus on our solar system. Students study our Sun, followed by the planets which orbit it. Students learn in detail about the climates, features, moons, orbits and more of each of the planets. Students also study how our Earth moves around the Sun and our moon goes around it. After finishing the planets and their moons, students look at dwarf planets, followed by a look at comets, asteroids and meteors. Students study the differences and subcategories (meteorites, meteors etc.) and how each of these works and produces features. Finally, students look at how humans interact with space. Students study the history of space travel, followed by space travel today.... Read the rest of the description on our course catalog!
