In the honors English 10 course, students explore central ideas in English. Following a similar path as honors English 9, students delve deeper into the world of English looking for deeper meanings in books and reading more complex books. Students work on analyses of literary works and poems, as well as working on narrative essays, argumentative essays, informative writing, nonfiction analysis, persuasive essays, comparison essays and speeches. Students craft their own works as they work to understand the works of other authors. Students read texts including “Of Mice & Men” by John Steinbeck, “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, “An Ideal for Which I am Prepared to Die” by Nelson Mandela, “Animal Farm” & “1984” by George Orwell, “Macbeth” & “Julius Caesar” by Shakespeare and “I Have a Dream” by Martin Luther King Jr.
